The Women in Horror Film Festival is currently OPEN for submissions!

We are accepting submissions in the following categories: 

  • Feature Film

  • Short Film

  • Student Film

  • Short Screenplay

  • Feature Screenplay

  • Music Video

  • Trailer

  • Renegade Short Films (genre bending films that do not fit into the horror/scifi/thriller box)

  • Youth Film (Filmmakers 17 & under) - FREE category for filmmakers 17 & under

We accept all films that fall into and beyond the following genres: horror, thriller, suspense and science fiction.  

All submissions must be entered electronically on FilmFreeway. 

All films entered are required to have 3 or greater of the following different specified creative roles fulfilled by women: (Director(s), Writer(s), Producer (s), Cinematographer(s), Composer, SFX Artist, Editor, Production Designer and/or lead talent). Screenplay submissions must have not been previously produced, and must be written or co-written by a woman.

ALL submissions are rated and scored by an independent panel of judges

The Lizzies

Winners in select categories will receive a truly one-of-a-kind "Lizzie" trophy. Each trophy is hand-painted ensuring that no two Lizzies are exactly alike.

Winners of the BEST FEATURE SCREENPLAY and BEST SHORT SCREENPLAY will receive an InkTip Script Listing to promote themselves and their scripts to InkTip’s entire network of producers, managers, and agents.

Companies who are InkTip members include: ABC, Anonymous Content, APA, CBS Films, HBO Films, ICM, Paradigm, Paramount Pictures, Hallmark Channel, FX, Universal, WME, Echo Lake, Zero Gravity, Bad Robot, 20th Century Fox, and many more.

Producers have made more than 350 films from scripts and writers found through InkTip.

BEST FEATURE SCREENPLAY and BEST SHORT SCREENPLAY winners will also receive screenwriting software from Final Draft
